The Ohio State women's basketball team handed defending Big Ten champion and No. 6 Maryland its first conference loss Saturday behind a 28-point performance by Kelsey Mitchell.
The No. 9 Buckeyes (10-3, 2-0) defeated the Terrapins (12-2, 1-1) 80-71 in College Park at the XFINITY Center.
It was the first loss in 29 games for Maryland in its home arena and its first in Big Ten play, snapping a 22-game streak that included all of its inaugural season in the league in 2014-15.
The Terps entered the game out-rebounding opponents this season by 20 per game.
