Dr. Sheldon Retchin, the executive vice president of health sciences and chief executive officer of Ohio State's Wexner Medical Center, has stepped down.
This comes just days after dozens of physicians and professors at the university's college of medicine expressed their lack of confidence in Retchin to president Michael V. Drake, provost Bruce McPheron and the board of trustees, claiming — seemingly above all else — his leadership style is creating division between the medical center and comprehensive cancer center.
Retchin released the following statement Tuesday evening:
Good afternoon. I would like to express what an honor and privilege it has been to partner with President Michael Drake, the Ohio State University Board, the Wexner Medical Center Board and OSU Cabinet to lead the Wexner Medical Center and health sciences programs, and to serve this great Columbus community.
