Ohio State took only two deep shots in Michigan State loss - How is that possible? 5 Ari Wasserman observations

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- J.T. Barrett had Braxton Miller wide open about 40 yards downfield and just overshot it. Easy touchdown with a good throw.

Plays like that can drive fans crazy -- and they should -- but they can also be somewhat encouraging. Ohio State got a guy behind the defense, so it'll come back to it later.

But in the Buckeyes' 17-14 loss to Michigan State on Saturday, they never did. Ohio State took only two deep shots downfield, the miss to Miller and one down the sideline to Michael Thomas that was severely underthrown. Thomas had to play defense to prevent the interception.
