Ohio State coach Ryan Day is expected to receive a two-year contract extension that will run through the 2028 football season and make him one of the top-five highest-paid college football coaches in the country, pending approval on Thursday from the Ohio State Board of Trustees.
Day's total compensation will increase from $7.6 million annually to $9.5 million annually with a base salary of $2 million per year, according to a news release from the school. Alabama coach Nick Saban, USC coach Lincoln Riley, LSU coach Brian Kelly and Michigan State coach Mel Tucker also make more than $9 million annually.
