Three players in the defensive line who performed well in the Ohio State spring game may have seemed to be playing out of position to some. They were highly ranked defensive ends coming out of high school, but are now playing defensive tackle at the three technique.
Tracy Sprinkle played effectively at tackle as Adolphus Washington’s backup last season, Jashon Cornell and Dre’mont Jones have only moved inside recently. All three spent a significant amount of time in the offensive backfield during the spring game.
In the 4-3 defensive scheme Ohio State plays, the tackles are staggered most of the time.
