COLUMBUS: Joe Burrow doesn’t care what J.T. Barrett calls him, as long as he calls him his backup this fall.
Barrett’s full name is Joe Thomas Barrett, and he and Cardale Jones decided after Burrow arrived in the class of 2015 that their quarterback room couldn’t have two guys named Joe. So Barrett christened Burrow “John,” a moniker that baffled those impressed by Burrow’s performance Saturday in leading the Gray to a 28-17 victory over the Scarlet in Ohio Stadium.
Before a national spring game record crowd of 100,189, Burrow completed 14-of-23 passes for 196 yards and three touchdowns with an interception.
