Ohio State roundup | Men's tennis team advances in NCAA tournament

Ohio State defeated Virginia Tech 4-2 on Sunday at the Varsity Tennis Center, sending the Buckeyes to the round of 16 of the NCAA men's tennis tournament.

The victory put the Buckeyes (32-2) in the round of 16 for the 11th consecutive year and improved their record to 22-0 in NCAA Tournament matches at home.

The Buckeyes won the doubles point with Matt Mendez and Hugo Di Feo teaming for one victory, and Mikael Torpegaard and Herkko Pollanen getting the other.

In singles, Pollanen beat Mitch Harper 6-3, 6-4 and Ohio State's Martin Joyce defeated Jai Corbett 6-4, 7-6 (7-2).
