The Ohio State men’s gymnastics team, competing for its first national title since 2001, finished second overall in its qualifying session on Friday in St. John Arena and advanced to today’s NCAA championship round.
The Buckeyes posted qualifying score of 433.4. Sean Melton won the rings and parallel bars with scores of 15.2 and 15.35, respectively. Alex Johnson took first in the high bar (15.1) and Alec Yoder tied for first in the pommel horse (15.4).
Stanford topped the field in the six-team evening session with a score of 434.35, and Illinois (432.05) was third behind OSU.
