Starter Tanner Tully allowed one run and scattered five hits over eight innings, and Ohio State defeated No. 19 Michigan 3-2 on Friday in the first Big Ten meeting at Bill Davis Stadium between the rivals since 2011.
Tully spotted the Wolverines a run on three hits in the second inning before settling down. He struck out eight before giving way to the bullpen. Yianni Pavlopoulos yielded a run in the ninth but still managed the save.
Down a run, the Buckeyes (33-16-1, 11-8) scored three in the fifth to take control. Jalen Washington led off with a home run before Brady Cherry lined a double and Tre Gantt walked.
