Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett wasn’t surprised by anything Michigan State’s defense did in the Spartans’ 17-14 victory over the Buckeyes.
The Buckeyes’ own performance? Yeah, that was a stunner. Barrett threw for only 46 yards and ran for a paltry 44 on Saturday. That was 296 fewer yards than he accounted for in last year’s 49-37 win in East Lansing.
“We just didn’t execute,” Barrett said. “They didn’t do anything crazy or out of the ordinary.”
He said that Michigan State’s defensive alignment, with their ends spread wide, made it difficult to run toward the sideline.
