COLUMBUS: It was the first day Dante Booker was considered an Ohio State starter, and the junior linebacker from St. Vincent-St. Mary relished the feeling.
He also showed he might be ready to live up to the great expectations of his predecessor, Joshua Perry, the NFL-bound co-captain who lauded Booker last season.
“If I can follow in his footsteps I’ll be just fine,” Booker said of Perry. “You see where he is now and the legacy he left behind. I would have no problem doing the exact same thing he did.”
Booker had seven tackles, second most on a Gray team that boasted OSU’s starting defense, in the Gray’s 28-17 victory over the Scarlet before a national record crowd of 100,189 in Ohio Stadium Saturday.
