Ohio State finished the first day of the NCAA wrestling championships in second place with 24 points, just 3.5 behind leader Penn State.
The Buckeyes got out to a fast start in Session I on Thursday in New York, leading the field with 16 points. Defending champion and top-ranked Nathan Tomasello remained undefeated (23-0) with an 18-0 win by decision over Kyle Larson of Iowa State in the 125-pound division. Johnni DiJulius (133 pounds), Micah Jordan (141), Bo Jordan (165) and Kyle Snyder (285) all earned wins via pins.
