Ohio State men's tennis | Torpegaard falls in NCAA title match

Deep disappointment is a given when you lose in the finals of an NCAA tournament.

What tempered it for Ohio State’s Mikael Torpegaard after his 6-3, 6-3 loss to UCLA’s Mackenzie McDonald for the NCAA men’s tennis singles title was the realization that his opponent was simply the superior player on Monday.

“I’m sure I could have played a lot better myself, but I felt like he beat me today,” Torpegaard said from Tulsa, Oklahoma. “I didn’t lose to him.”

The redshirt sophomore from Denmark was trying to become the second Buckeye to win the NCAA singles championship in four years.
