After the tragic loss of a teammate in the offseason, players for the Ohio State men's soccer team look forward to taking to the field again.
And when they return to Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium on Friday, they will sport patches on their jerseys that read "FI14." A tribute to Fikayo Idowu, who wore number 14, the patches will be a fixture all season.
Idowu's death — he drowned on June 26 while swimming with teammates in Apple Valley Lake near Mount Vernon — has given the defending Big Ten champions even more to play for this season.
