Behind strong defensive play, the Buckeyes came within two of defeating one of the top teams in the country.
In a rare Sunday night game, the Ohio State Buckeyes men’s lacrosse team lost a close match against No. 5 Maryland in College Park, 10-8. After a relatively even first half, a prolonged scoring drought by the Buckeyes and some quick goals by the Terps gave Maryland a lead which Ohio State could not overtake.
Maryland opened up scoring early with a goal just 2:30 into the game. Despite Ohio State tying things up with 9:09 remaining in the first quarter on a goal by midfielder Jarret Hassfeld--his first goal of the season--Maryland followed up with another score on its next position to go up 2-1.
