Ohio State's Will Grimmer and Tee-k Kelly both shot a 2-under-par 70 in the opening round of an NCAA regional at Kohler, Wis.
Grimmer and Kelly are tied for fifth place individually, just one stroke back from a four-way tie for first place, with two rounds to play. The top individual from a non-advancing team — Ohio State did not qualify for team play — will earn a spot in the NCAA championship May 27 through June 1 in Eugene, Ore.
In the team competition, Florida and Idaho lead at 5-under 283. Florida State, Kent State and Illinois rank third through fifth at 284, 288 and 289.
