Ohio State sophomore center Trevor Thompson has declared for the NBA draft but will not hire an agent, keeping open the option to return next season.
Per a university spokesman, Thompson "has indicated to the coaching staff his intention to take advantage of new NCAA opportunities to gather information about becoming a professional." This is the first year that players are allowed to test the NBA waters without hiring an agent and, if they don't like their prognosis, return to school without losing their eligibility.
After playing his freshman season for Virginia Tech and transferring to Ohio State, Thompson sat out one year before spending most of the 2015-16 season in Ohio State's starting lineup.
