When it comes to recruiting at Ohio State, Thad Matta likens the situation to “all hands on deck” for the coaching staff. Each assistant typically handles one aspect of a recruit’s visit, from food to lodging to travel, with a full picture then approved by Matta before anything takes place.
It’s an approach that Matta has adhered to since arriving on campus for the 2004-05 season. It’s also one that he, like every other coach in America, hopes insulates him and his program from what is transpiring at the University of Louisville.
“Coach (Jim) Tressel and I used to laugh about this: Everybody thinks that we’re with our guys 24 hours a day, and we’re not,” Matta said on Oct.
