Ohio State men's basketball | Lyle lifts production; now needs consistency

One of the nation’s top point guards will be on the court op Saturday when third-ranked Maryland plays host to Ohio State. After turning down the NBA and returning for his sophomore season, Melo Trimble has made himself a likely consensus pick to be a finalist for national player of the year.

But in his past two games, Ohio State freshman point guard JaQuan Lyle has made his own case — not for national player of the year but as someone to watch.

After scoring 24 second-half points, and 29 overall, on Sunday in an 85-60 loss to Indiana, Lyle had a triple-double — 16 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists — on Wednesday in a 94-68 win over Rutgers.
