Jimmy Jent, the son of Ohio State men's basketball assistant coach Chris Jent, has joined the Buckeyes as a walk-on.
The 6-foot-4, 185-pound sophomore guard spent last season as a walk-on at Wofford and was one of 13 players (11 on scholarship) to report to campus Monday to begin summer workouts and classes.
The younger Jent graduated from Fork Union (Va.) Military Academy and made six appearances off the bench for Wofford last season.
He’s not the only addition, of sorts, for Ohio State. Junior forward Jae’Sean Tate, who missed the final seven games of last season after having surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder, has been cleared to resume shooting but not for contact drills, a team spokesman said.
