Ohio State linebacker Tuf Borland suffered an Achilles injury in practice last week, Ohio State coach Urban Meyer announced Monday.
Meyer said his season is not in jeopardy at this point.
Borland, a redshirt sophomore, started nine games for the Buckeyes at middle linebacker last season and was expected to be the Buckeyes' starting middle linebacker this season.
With Borland sidelined, the Buckeyes could now have an entirely new starting linebacker corps as they head into spring practice. Redshirt junior Justin Hilliard and sophomore Baron Browning are the top candidates to replace Borland at the middle linebacker spot, with Hilliard taking first-team repetitions during Monday's practice.
