Thornton averaged 15.5 and points and 4.3 assists per game in four appearances as he led 13th-seeded Ohio State to three wins and a spot in the tournament semifinals against top-seeded Purdue. The Buckeyes became the lowest seed to ever reach the semifinal round of the tournament.
