The No. 7 women’s hockey Bucks were left looking for answers on Friday night after getting steamrolled by No. 2 Minnesota. The Gophers seized control of the game early and never relinquished it. The visitors reeled off four goals in the first period including two power play strikes in as many opportunities.
Despite the lopsided score, the Buckeyes kept battling. Maddy Field put OSU on the board a little more than a minute into the second period. Midway through the frame, Grace Zumwinkle restored Minnesota’s four-goal lead. But Jincy Dunne swiftly narrowed the gap once again. The blueliner’s third goal of the season made it 5-2.
