The highest ranked defensive back in Ohio State's 2021 recruiting class has now "officially" become a Buckeye.
True freshman cornerback Jakailin Johnson joined freshman defensive tackle Mike Hall in losing his black stripe following Wednesday's practice, the team announced with a video on social media.
Johnson, a St. Louis native from De Smet Jesuit High School, was the No. 50 overall recruit in the 2021 class, and the No. 3-rated cornerback. Johnson was the top-ranked player in Missouri.
Listed at 6-foot, 185 pounds, Johnson was the third Ohio State cornerback in his recruiting cycle to lose his black stripe, behind Denzel Burke and Jordan Hancock.
