Freshman wide receiver Austin Mack was the first Ohio State player in the 2016 recruiting class to lose his black stripe. That is coach Urban Meyer’s way of saying he is now officially a Buckeye.
It’s a big honor for a freshman and is only given when a player has shown the coaching staff he is willing to do what is needed to be a contributor for Ohio State. But it is not surprising that Mack lost his stripe so early.
Mack along with fellow freshman Jonathon Cooper, another early enrollee at Ohio State, saw their stock soar in the latter part of the recruiting process.
