Ohio State Football: Why ESPN disrespected the 2014 Buckeyes

Six Ohio State football teams were ranked in ESPN’s recent “150 greatest teams in college football’s 150-year history” list. While that should be viewed as a pretty cool accomplishment, I think that ESPN ranked one Ohio State team way too low.

The following Buckeye teams made the cut: 1968 Ohio State (Ranked No. 13); 2002 Ohio State (Ranked No. 34); 1954 Ohio State (Ranked No. 61); 2014 Ohio State (Ranked No. 118); 1973 Ohio State (Ranked No. 137); and 1944 Ohio State (Ranked No. 150).

Here is how each one of those teams fared during their respective seasons: the 1968 Buckeyes went 10-0 and won the AP, Coaches, FWAA, and NFF National Titles; the 2002 Buckeyes went 14-0 and won a BCS National Championship; the 1954 Buckeyes went 10-0 and won the AP National Title; the 2014 Buckeyes went 14-1 and won the College Football Playoff National Championship; the 1973 Buckeyes went 10-0-1 but did not win any national titles; and the 1944 Buckeyes went 9-0 but did not win any national titles.
