Sam Hubbard occasionally runs into people he hasn’t seen in a few years, and after they size him up, the first remark is almost always the same.
“‘What did you do? What’s going on?’” Hubbard said.
The last time they might have seen him was when he was a 6-foot-4, 220-pound sophomore at Cincinnati Moeller who had committed to play lacrosse at Notre Dame. After eschewing that for football at Ohio State in 2014, he has kept growing, punching through projections of first playing safety, then outside linebacker, to now standing almost 6-6 and roughly 267 pounds, as a defensive end.
