Torrance Gibson is still a project in the works as a receiver at Ohio State, but anyone paying attention as the Buckeyes scrimmaged during student appreciation day last week could see the potential of the star quarterback-recruit-turned-wideout.
The 6-foot-4, speedy Gibson caught a couple of passes on close-quarter crosses and outcuts, and he hauled in a 40-yard pass over the shoulder from backup quarterback Joe Burrow after gaining position on the chasing cornerback. Starting quarterback J.T. Barrett saw it all.
“Torrance is coming around,” Barrett said.
It is just taking a while. Gibson made the switch early last fall when it was obvious he was not going to factor into the quarterback competition as a freshman.
