Ohio State football | Sideline-interference penalty a bad call, Meyer says

It’s rare to hear Urban Meyer criticize an official’s call, but after getting hit in the face at Wisconsin on Saturday night and then getting hit with a 15-yard penalty for sideline interference because of it, he made an exception.

“I don’t know if I’m allowed to say this, but I don’t care -- there should not have been a penalty, per Bill Carollo,” Meyer said today, referring to the Big Ten’s director of officials, who Meyer said has provided clarification.

The game official was windmilling with one arm to signal the clock should keep running on a play at the Ohio State sideline, stepped backward and "he barely grazed my headset,” said Meyer, who appeared to have at least one foot in the area of the sideline he is allowed to be and one foot on the white, where no one is allowed except on-field players and officials.
