Ohio State Football: Ryan Day’s three game audition as head coach

When co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Ryan Day was elevated to head coach of the Ohio State football team in the wake of Urban Meyer’s administrative leave, it raised a few eyebrows.

Who was this callow young coach that most Buckeyes fans hadn’t heard of prior to 2017? How did he leapfrog Greg Schiano and Kevin Wilson, two more senior coaches with successful head coaching stints at Power 5 schools?

Apart from the obvious baggage carried by both Schiano and Wilson, there was one shining reason to name Day to the top spot: the man can flat-out coach.
