Ohio State football | Pulmonary embolism ends defensive lineman Munger's career

Ohio State defensive tackle Donovan Munger’s playing days are over, coach Urban Meyer confirmed Wednesday, due to a recurrence of pulmonary embolism which had sidelined him once before.

Munger, a fourth-year junior who started in the Fiesta Bowl win over Notre Dame in January, was diagnosed in late winter with the problem, which means blood clots in the lungs. He of course was not allowed to take part in spring drills which ended last week.

“He was doing fine, then it came back,” Meyer said. “You don’t mess with that. … The health of a player is more important than playing football.
