Pat Elflein is one of five semifinalists for the Outland Trophy, it was announced Wednesday night, and Ohio State defensive coach Greg Schiano said the OSU senior center is worthy of such recognition.
“What you see is a real stout football player,” said Schiano who was head coach at Rutgers and then of NFL Tampa Bay before joining the Buckeyes this year. “But then, when you know (by) coaching him he’s the brains of the outfit, and that he’s the emotional lead – he’s everything.
“He’s a huge, key element on our football team, not just on the offense but for our whole team.
