Luke Fickell has been hired as the head coach of the University of Cincinnati, an Ohio State source confirms.
The longtime Ohio State assistant coach and former Buckeye player replaces Tommy Tuberville as Bearcats coach. Tuberville resigned earlier this month after UC finished a 4-8 season.
It was not immediately known whether Fickell will remain with Ohio State for its CFP semifinal Dec. 31 against Clemson in the Fiesta Bowl, though offensive coordinator Tom Herman stayed for Ohio State’s run two years ago after Houston hired him.
Also to be revealed is whether any other Buckeyes coaches would join him at Cincinnati.
