The Ohio State football team had struggled to put together a complete game all season long. They lost to Oregon and struggled against Tulsa in the last two weeks. It looked like the Buckeyes were going to struggle against vs. Akron early as well after the Zips took a 7-0 lead.
Ohio State then proceeded to score 52 unanswered points and looked much better on both sides of the ball. In his first collegiate start, Kyle McCord was 13/18 for 319 yards with 2 touchdowns and 1 interception. All in all, it was a mixed bag for the true freshman.
