Two Ohio State offensive stars, quarterback J.T. Barrett and hybrid back Curtis Samuel, were named among four finalists today for the Chicago Tribune Silver Football award, which the paper said this year will go to the two players determined by a vote of Big Ten coaches to be the best in the conference.
Penn State running back Saquon Barkley and Michigan three-way player Jabrill Peppers are the other two finalists. The paper said two winners will be announced next week.
Earlier this week Barrett was named the league’s top quarterback for the second time in three years (the first in 2014 when he finished fifth in the Heisman Trophy race).
