INDIANAPOLIS – Of the nine Ohio State underclassmen who declared for the NFL draft, Jalin Marshall’s decision to leave probably caused the most raised eyebrows.
The wide receiver, who played quarterback at Middletown High School, had two years of eligibility left. He had only 36 catches last year and scored five touchdowns.
Marshall is projected as a mid-round pick and could have helped his draft stock by staying at Ohio State and having a breakthrough season.
But Marshall doesn’t appear to have had any second thoughts about his decision.
“I talked it over with my family and my coaches and came down to the decision that it was time for me to take the next step, that I was prepared enough to be able to play,” Marshall said today at the NFL combine.
