Jack Park, a leading Ohio State football historian, checks in each week during the college football season with a retrospective about the Buckeyes.
Many Ohio State football fans might not be familiar with Wes Fesler, who Woody Hayes replaced as coach of the Buckeyes. Of the 24 head football coaches in OSU history, Fesler is one of only five to have graduated from Ohio State. The other four are Sam Willaman (1929-1933), Earle Bruce (1979-1987), Luke Fickell (2011) and Urban Meyer (2012-present).
Fesler grew up in Youngstown and was one of the Buckeyes’ all-time finest players as a three-time All-America end in 1928-30.
