Michael Jordan prepared himself for this possibility, even though he didn’t really expect it to happen.
In Urban Meyer’s head coaching career, only one offensive lineman — Maurkice Pouncey at Florida — has ever started as a true freshman. When Jordan enrolled at Ohio State in January, he didn’t expect to be the second.
But Jordan wowed during spring practice and remains the front-runner to start at left guard.
“When I first got here, the guy I spent the most time with was (fellow freshman) Tyler Gerald,” Jordan said Sunday at media day. “I used to tell him every day after practice how surprised I was that I’m (blocking) people who are expected to start this year.
