Ohio State freshman receiver Austin Mack had the black stripe removed from his helmet after the team’s spring practice this morning, tantamount to receiving the seal of approval from the coaching staff and the team.
Mack, a member of the 2016 recruiting class and an early enrollee, has been making an impression for a while, according to assistant coach Tony Alford. The removal of the black stripe from the practice helmet is a ceremony coach Urban Meyer introduced when he took over the team in 2012. It means that a player is a fully fledged Buckeye who likely will get playing time in the coming season.
