Jeffrey Okudah, considered the No. 1 safety prospect in the nation by Rivals, committed to the Ohio State 2017 recruiting class Saturday during the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.
Okudah, from South Grand Prairie, Texas, became the sixth five-star recruit in a class that now numbers 18. It went into the day ranked No. 3 nationally by Rivals behind Alabama (26 members) and Georgia (23).
Okudah was one of 10 Ohio State commitments who played in the Army game, including four-star quarterback Tate Martell and five-star linebacker Baron Browning on the West squad.
“From when I got there I was just comfortable with the coaching staff, the plan they set up for me, they put a lot of defensive backs in the NFL, and life outside of football,” Okudah said of his reasons for picking Ohio State.
