Ohio State didn’t gain the upsets it needed on Saturday to hope for a back-door entry today into the second College Football Playoff.
Now the question is whether the playoff committee will at least keep the No. 6 Buckeyes in position to play in the Rose Bowl against Stanford. No. 5 Michigan State edged No. 4 Iowa 16-13 in the Big Ten championship game, but since the outcome was so close, there’s a chance the committee will still place Iowa ahead of the Buckeyes.
Rose Bowl officials have said they intend to take the highest ranked of the remaining Big Ten teams should the league champion wind up in the playoff.
