One can sense in coach Urban Meyer’s demeanor that his confidence in this year’s Ohio State team is rising.
Although improvement is still needed in the passing game, what gives a coach a certain degree of surety at this stage of the season is the play of the defense. Headed into a game Saturday at Ohio Stadium between No.2 Ohio State and No.9 Michigan State, Meyer knows what he has.
“Our defense has gotten better and better and better,” he said. “You win championships with great defense. We’ve proven that. That’s time-tested. It’s an unusual situation when a team can compete for a championship with a bad defense.
