Ohio State co-defensive coordinator/safeties coach Chris Ash reportedly will leave the Buckeyes to become head coach at Rutgers.
According to nj.com, Ash will be introduced on Monday pending approval by Rutgers’ board of governors.
Ash did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Ohio State coach Urban Meyer hired Ash after the 2013 season and gave him authority to fix the Buckeyes’ porous pass defense. Ash succeeded.
Working with defensive coordinator Luke Fickell, defensive line coach Larry Johnson and cornerbacks coach Kerry Coombs, Ash reoriented Ohio State’s defense from one designed to stop the run first to one that focused first on pass defense.
