Ohio State football | Bolstering pass protection becomes priority

Michigan State poses many challenges to Ohio State. One in particular is getting a lot of attention this week.

In an otherwise workmanlike 28-3 victory over Illinois on Saturday, the Buckeyes’ difficulties in pass protection were glaring. J.T. Barrett repeatedly was under duress when he dropped back to pass.

His interception was the result of getting hit by an Illinois lineman as he threw. Too often, Barrett had to throw before he wanted, resulting in an incompletion or a short reception.

Illinois has an underrated pass rush. Michigan State’s isn’t underrated. Anyone who has paid attention knows how good the Spartans can be at pressuring the quarterback.
