CHICAGO -- The annual Big Ten football media days kicked off today in somber fashion after the news this past weekend of the death of Nebraska punter Sam Foltz.
Foltz, who as a junior last season led the conference in punting average, and former Michigan State punter Michael Sadler were killed in a traffic accident late Saturday night in Merton, Wisconsin, while returning from a punting-kicking camp in Waukesha. Sadler was the driver of the car in which Foltz and Colby Delahoussaye, a kicker for Louisiana State, were passengers. Delahoussaye suffered injuries.
Nebraska announced that coach Mike Riley and its three players expected to attend the media days will not take part.
