It wouldn’t seem right if at least one Ohio State defensive back wasn’t chosen in the NFL Draft as it has only happened one time in the last decade. Kendall Sheffield was chosen in the fourth round by the Atlanta Falcons so there will be yet another DBU grad who will be playing on Sundays.
Ohio State is known as DBU for a reason. Just take a look at corners and safeties who have been drafted the last 10 years and you will see why.
- 2010 Safety Kurt Coleman seventh round
- 2011 Cornerback Chimdi Chekwa fourth round, Safety Jermale Hines fifth round
- 2012 Safety Nate Ebner sixth round
- 2014 Cornerback Bradley Roby first round, Safety Christian Bryant seventh round
- 2015 Cornerback Doran Grant fourth round
- 2016 Cornerback Eli Apple first round, Safety Vonn Bell second round
- 2017 Safety Malik Hooker first round, Cornerback Gareon Conley first round
- 2018 Cornerback Denzel Ward first round
- 2019 Cornerback Kendall Sheffield fourth round
Sheffield had a bit of a rocky road to join this elite group.
