The NFL Draft’s first round came and went Thursday night without a player from college football’s national championship team being selected. There were no Ohio State players taken during the first 32 picks. That hadn’t happened since 2003, when the Buckeyes’ second-most recent title team didn’t have a first-round selection.
Next year will be quite different for Urban Meyer’s program, though.
Ohio State has three players seen as first-round locks: defensive end Joey Bosa (the potential No. 1 overall pick), running back Ezekiel Elliot and quarterback Cardale Jones.
