Ohio State defensive tackle Haskell Garrett was attempting to break up an argument between a man and a woman when he was shot early Sunday morning, he told Columbus Police.
According to the narrative report of the incident obtained by The Athletic's Bill Landis, Garrett told Columbus Police that he was walking toward Chittenden and Grant Avenue when he observed a man and a woman he did not know “arguing and being aggressive.” After Garrett told the man to stop arguing with the woman, the man turned toward Garrett, pulled out a handgun and fired, hitting Garrett in the face.
