Paul Rhoads will not be staying on Ohio State’s staff for the 2022 season.
Gulf Shores High School announced Thursday that it had hired Rhoads, who was a defensive analyst for Ohio State last season, as its new defensive coordinator.
Rhoads had been at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center and continuing to work with the Buckeyes as recently as Monday, when Ohio State defensive coordinator Jim Knowles said Rhoads had been a resource to him as he started familiarizing himself with the Buckeyes’ defensive personnel.

Now, though, Rhoads – who has been a college football coach since 1989, including a head coaching stint at Iowa State from 2009-15 – is heading to Gulf Shores, Alabama, where he joins a highly qualified high school coaching staff led by former Austin Peay head coach Mark Hudspeth.
