When Ohio State redshirt sophomore cornerback Gareon Conley left Saturday’s game against Indiana in the first half with a shoulder injury, it didn’t take long for the Hoosiers to target Conley’s backup: redshirt freshman Marshon Lattimore.
In fact, Indiana went after Lattimore on the very first pass attempt it had after Conley left the game. It was a 15-yard completion despite a penalty committed by Lattimore.
The fact the Hoosiers did this wasn’t surprising in itself; any time a starter for the opposition goes out, especially at a position like cornerback, you’d be hard-pressed to find a team that won’t directly try to attack the next player into the game.
